Football betting has grown dramatically over the last few years and in more than ways, it has changed the face of sports betting. Professional bettors are making millions by simply betting on this sport. For most people, football betting just a fun thing to do to add more excitement to the game. Even though betting is a game of chance, there are people who are very keen and they not only win more, but also lose less. However, others find it hard to win because of making huge mistakes that cost them. Let us look at 5 common mistakes bettors make.

Betting On Your Favorite Team

Many people end up betting on their favorite teams since they want them to win and they overlook all other aspects. It is very vital to do your research beforehand and choose the team that is best suited to win, not the team you are a fan of. As a matter of fact, avoid betting on any game that your team is participating so you do not put yourself in a bad situation.

Assuming That Random Chances Create Victory

There are many variables that affect the way players play on the field, but random chances cannot get you into winning big money. An analysis is very important. If a key player has been in injury for the last one month, they may not have a great game, for example. Keep your eyes open to all possibilities, but don’t leave it up to chance. This is where “homework” comes into play. Without studying the odds and lifestyles of the players you may miss out on important signs.

Emotional, Hungover or Angry Betting

We have all been there. Waking up on a Saturday, hungover and having barely slept, with less than two hours before the early kickoff. Without any research or much thought at all, you log into your football betting account and place huge bets on teams you don’t even have a strong opinion on. Many people have made this mistake on numerous occasions, and the results are never pleasant. A similar disastrous situation may occur when placing a bet while angry (maybe after losing a bet). This is another mistake most people are guilty of making in their gambling lifetime. Ensure that you are of sober mind before placing a bet on any team. Checkout these best betting sites.

Betting on Too Many Games

People who win more do not bet on too many games. 10% is a good number of games to bet on. If you are betting on about 10% of the total games for a certain season, this shows a selective betting style that will allow you to win. Wait for conditions to be just right and only bet on teams that you have researched well and have identified an angle that will give you an advantage.

Trusting “Sure Things”

Be wary of the so-called “sure things”. One of the key elements of football and most other sports is the term “upset”. Even the top-ranked teams can stumble in their winning season. Even the best team on the field gets upset by a mere 3 points if not less. It’s not impossible to win on a sure thing, just ensure that you are not banking entirely on that term each week.

The best way to avoid these mistakes is properly planning ahead. The schedules for the major football leagues are released advance, making it possible to analyze games in advance and identify viable opportunities in advance. You can choose to place your bets early, or wait and see if there will be any changes. Avoid these common mistakes and you will not only win more, but also lose less.

Stadion Italia

The Sunday fixtures in Serie A start early as Napoli welcome Cagliari to the Stadio San Paolo in the 7th round of fixtures in the Italian top flight.

This will be the last round of games for clubs before their players head off with their national teams for crucial World Cup qualifiers.

Napoli will be aiming to maintain their position at the top of the table as they continue to pursue their first Serie A title since 1986/97.  Cagliari will be hoping to avoid a relegation battle this season and a top half finish would be good.

Napoli Form

Napoli come into this match full of confidence having defeated Feyenoord 3-1 in the Champions League on Tuesday night.  It was a crucial win for Napoli having lost their first game in the group.

Attention turns back to Serie A this weekend and Napoli start on top of the table with a 100% record from their 6 games played.  Second place Juventus have the same record but Napoli have the superior goal difference.

The most notable thing about Napoli in Serie A this season is the number of goals the have scored.  They have netted 22 times in just 6 games, at an average of 3.66 goals per game.  They have scored at least 3 goals in every league game.

At home, Napoli have lost just 1 of their last 17 Serie A games which came back in October 2016, almost a year ago.

Cagliari Form

Cagliari start the weekend in 13th place in Serie A and have won 2 of their 6 league games.  There have been wins against Crotone at home and SPAL away, both of which came with a clean sheet.

However, Cagliari have lost their 4 other games, with defeats coming at Juventus and Milan and at home to Sassuolo and Chievo Verona.  The latter two results were the most disappointing for Cagliari as these were the games they were hoping to get something from and they finished empty handed, without scoring a goal.

Away from home in Serie A, Cagliari have won only 3 of their last 18 games and have conceded 16 goals in their last 6 games on the road.

Team News

Napoli have lost striker Arkadiusz Milik to a long-term knee injury and he will not feature until well into the new year.  Otherwise Napoli are at full strength and will feature the trio of Dries Mertens, Jose Callejon and Lorenzo Insigne in attack.

Cagliari are without Pinheiro Rafael de Andrade who is injured and the suspended Fabio Pisacane.  There are also doubts over the fitness of Gregory van der Wiel, Gabriel and Andrea Cossu.

Top Betting Tips

Napoli are heavy favourites to win this game and expect to see them attack from the first whistle against Cagliari.  There should be plenty of goal scoring opportunities and Napoli to win with over 3.5 goals is 4/5 with Ladbrokes.

Napoli have scored 3 or more goals in every league game they have played this season and we could be in for more of the same in this one.  Napoli to score 3 or more goals is 1/2 with Coral.

Dries Mertens gets many of the headlines for Napoli but Jose Callejon has scored in each of his last 4 games.  Callejon is 4/1 with Bet365 to get the first goal of the match.

In this preview, I’ll be giving you my score predictions in cooperation with for Saturday’s matches.

Huddersfield vs Leicester City

Huddersfield finally lost for the first time this season against West Ham United last time out following a strong start that has seen them win three and draw one of the opening four matches. The Terriers were the favourites for relegation at the start of the season, but they have defied the odds on their way to 6th place in the table. On Saturday they come up against a Leicester City side who have lost three of their first four matches in the league. Craig Shakespeare’s side have had a tough fixture list though, having already played Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United and I’m backing them to get back to winning ways against Huddersfield on Saturday.

Huddersfield 1 – 2 Leicester City

Liverpool vs Burnley

Liverpool were very disappointing last weekend following Sadio Mane’s red card and fans were left disappointed with the lack of fight shown on their way to a 5-0 loss. The Reds followed this up with a 2-2 draw against Sevilla in the Champions League on a night when they were left to rue missed chances and defensive mistakes. They face Burnley on Saturday in a must win game for the Reds and I think they’ll do just that. Philipe Coutinho could well come in for his first start of the season and I fancy the little Brazilian to have a big say in the outcome.

Liverpool 3 – 0 Burnley

Newcastle vs Stoke City

Newcastle picked up a key victory against Swansea City last time out to make it two wins on the bounce and they have shown that they’ll be a tough side to break down this season. Mark Hughes’s Stoke City team ended Manchester United’s winning run last weekend during a 2-2 draw and I fancy them to pick up another draw in this one.

Newcastle 0 – 0 Stoke City

Watford vs Manchester City

Manchester City have been irresistible in attack in both of their last two games, scoring nine goals in the process. On Saturday they come up against a Watford side who have impressed me this season. Marco Silva looks to have made some quality signings and the Hornets currently find themselves inside the top 4. I think Manchester City will win this one, but I don’t think they’ll have things all their own way.

Watford 1 – 3 Manchester City

West Bromwich Albion vs West Ham United

West Bromwich Albion were surprisingly poor last time out against Brighton and Tony Pulis will have been disappointed to have lost their first game of the season. This weekend they face a West Ham United side who picked up their first win of the campaign last time out and I fancy we could be in for a tight, tense affair here. Andy Carroll returned in the win against Huddersfield and the England hopeful had a big impact on the game with his aerial threat.

West Bromwich Albion 2 – 2 West Ham United

Middlesbrough vs QPR

It has been something of a stop start season for Middlesbrough so far, but the North East club are unbeaten in their last four matches and now find themselves just a solitary point away from 5th place. Saturday’s opponents QPR are level on points with them, but I fancy Middlesbrough to win this one. They arguably have the best attacking options in the Championship and if things click they could blow some teams away this season.

Middlesbrough 3 – 1 QPR

Following another extraordinary day on Friday, a first time Grand Slam finalist is now confirmed in the bottom half of the draw – following Marin Cilic’s defeat to Diego Schwartzman. Saturday sees the remaining 16 men in the top half of the draw battle it out at Flushing Meadows. Rafael Nadal & Roger Federer are still on course for a historic meeting in the semi-finals but there is plenty of tennis to be played before then.

Here are our picks of the third round matches taking place in New York on Saturday:

Match Betting

Rafael Nadal vs Leonardo Mayer

Number 1 seed Nadal has breezed into round 3 with wins over Dusan Lajovic and Taro Daniel. The Majorcan has looked solid on the hard courts so far this week but as week 2 looms – he will be fully aware of the need to be on top of his game. His opponent in round 3 Leonardo Mayer, has had a solid year and won the German Open in Hamburg back in July. The Argentine has had only one win over a top 10 player in his career though and this looks a big ask for him.

Head to Head

Nadal has a perfect 3:0 record over the qualifier Mayer with their last meeting coming at the 2014 French Open. Nadal is 1/10 with Coral for the in whilst Mayer is 8/1 to cause a major shock with UniBet.

Top Bet

This one looks like a forgone conclusion – backing Rafa to win by 3 sets to 0 and there to be fewer than 30.5 games in the match looks a shrewd double at 2.96/1 with UniBet.

Roger Federer vs Feliciano Lopez

Federer has had back-to-back 5-sets matches on the Arthur Ashe stadium court and he’ll be feeling the need to get his business done a little sooner as the tournament progresses. He looked some way of his best against Frances Tiafoe in round 1 before battling past old rival Mikhail Youzhny in the last round. He’ll be fully aware of the task at hand against Lopez who’s serve and volley game is a match for anyone on any surface.

Head to Head

Federer holds a remarkable 12:0 lead in the head to head. Two of the longest serving members on the tour, they have met at this stage of the US Open before – 10 years ago – back in 2007.  Federer looks quite good at 2/9 with Ladbrokes whilst Lopez is 4/1 with Bet 365 to break his duck.

Top Bet

Federer could well be feeling the strain of back to back 5 setters but seems to have a mental stronghold over Lopez, backing Federer to win by 3 sets to 1 looks a good punt at 11/4 with Sky Bet.

David Goffin vs Gael Monfils

Two of the world’s top 20 players meet on Saturday in what promises to be one of the matches of the round. David Goffin has had an injury stricken 2017 but looks to be finding some form in New York whilst Monfils, a semi-finalist here last year will be eager to take down a fellow top 10 competitior. Both men had to dig deep in round 2 and come through in 5 sets, Goffin battled past Guido Pella whilst Monfils edged his way past home favourite Donald Young.

Head to Head

This is the 4th meeting between these 2 men with Monfils leading the head to head 2:1. Their game styles are quite contrasting which should add an entertainment value for the spectators. Monfils the 8/13 with Coral despite his lower ranking and Goffin will fancy his chances at 7/5 with 32 Red.

Top Bet

This could well be the tie of the round – it will come down to how much energy they have left in the tank following a rainy day on Tuesday and a 5 setter each on Thursday. Backing the match to go to at least 4 sets and there to be a tie-break in the match looks a good double at 2.20/1 with Bet365.

Accumulator Bet

There are 8 matches to choose from so here’s our men’s round 3 accumulator:-

  • Dominic Thiem vs Adrian Mannarino – Mannarino to win
  • Damir Dzumhur vs Andrey Rublev – Rublev to win
  • Phillip Kohlschreiber vs John Millman – Kohlschreiber to win

Backing these 3 players to win pays 8.96/1 with Marathon Bet. (Odds:
